It's SAFE to read again!

[Meghan Collison]
Eeegad Welcome Back To Me...

SOOOO after my month or two long haitus into crazyville with somebody else posting some potentially offensive material here... (to those of you who may know what I am talking about and have been offended and/or stumbled, hurt, worried, etc, etc, I am sincerely and really, really, REALLY sorry). But alas, I am better now, and back to doing what I have found the heart to do again... writing. Posting. Commentating?? I don't really care if anyone reads this or not, I will just do it for my own amusement, because after being out and about today, I realized, that is what I enjoy. Read it or don't, I don't care. This is my hobby. An exercise in writing...

"After the End"

Forgot I had wanted to share this after getting back from Chicago. Despite all the historical and artistically renowed artists the Chicago Art Institute's Museum holds, one of my most favorite pieces was by a more modern artist whose work I was unfamiliar with-- Margherita Manzelli.

Her piece, "Dopo la Fine" ("After the End") was just amazing for me to see up close. A huge, ginormous work, painted from a strange angle. I loooved the bright colors, contrasting with the haunting, shadowy figure, and the woman's blank stare.

It doesn't seem like much in photos, but it was so amazing to just stand in front of it and be pulled in and repelled at the same time. It's size alone was part of the appeal, but also the somewhat skewed, yet eye-level perspective.
It's a little creepy, but that's also why it's so cool. The beautiful bright, cheery patterns of the foreground and her dress lead the viewer's eye to a less content scene. Is she actually dead? Is it an allegory or idea put into human form?

I love the vagueness, the juxtaposition of bright and cheery with sick and gloomy.

My own Miu Miu Collar

Where to begin...

1. I KNOW I KNOW the Spring 2010 Miu Miu collection has appeared on bajillions of style/fashion blogs since they came out, and I'm sorry to be all in your face about it too.
2. My camera is actually part of a joint custody with a bff and was supposed to be in Roswell this weekend, so alas, I must resort to terrible cell phone pics.
3. For anyone who personally knows me, I hate taking pics, I hate glorifying myself in any capacity, and I feel like a total tool throwing myself out there saying "hey look at me!"
BUT I am pleased with my results, got a ton of complements with this look, and would simply like to show my creation with you--

Hair inspired by Prada and Interview Magazine's March 2010 shoot by Mark Segal:

My own DIY collar, paired with fitted black suit jacket and shin-length black pencil skirt, black lace camisole under an electric yellow tank, and my most favorite accessory ever-- black sparrow and rose cameo necklace by Lara Lewis.

Why do I look pissed here? I don't know. I think that's my concentration look. I was having a hard time steadying my phone haha. Plus, people say I always look pissed, so this must just be my natural expression?? haha!

Special note: Lara Lewis can also be found here on blogger.
While her work is on Etsy, she has just recently opened up her own shop, so do check out both shops!

Miu Miu Brooches

Anyone else notice the kitty brooches from Miu Miu's spring 2010 collection? Aside from all the crazy prints, they had coordinating brooches on the shirts and clutches, including the sparrows and naked ladies lol.

I also love that these brooches can be used in all kinds of ways- embellishing blouses, clutches, also hats, anything!

*See the brooches on the hats below?

The Daily Truffle has a DIY for these cute little brooches. Just click the image below for a link to the tutorial:

Garden at Twilight

One beautiful evening I was out watering the plants and just had to take pics. Inspired by Lara Lewis and her garden adventures, I wanted to share them with you. And, as I don't really have any readers, this post is really just for a select few of you in mind (you know who you are! lol) Any way, it was a gorgeous evening, the air was heavy with the scent of roses, sun was setting... so amazing. I highly recommend viewing the pictures up close, because, maybe I'm biased, and I think they're pretty up close lol. So much is missed in the crappy low-res views here.

These roses were sooo crazy bright in the direct sunlight. Almost too bright to look at, especially mixed in with the red snapdragons.

This is the first year our snapdragons have REALLY taken off. They're so beautiful, but hard to photograph in the bright sun. I loved the shadows they cast behind them though.

I have nooo idea what the little blue/purple flowers are (above), but they're really cool in person, especially mixed in with the bright green leaves.

Wave petunias, sweet potatoe vine, snapdragons, unknown blue/purple flowers, and mums all mixed in.

And finally, last pic of the day, just before the sun set. Wish this photo turned out better.
