Michael Kors

With it being winter here in the US, it's hard to even grasp the concept that spring fashion is already OUT in some parts of the world. Even more mind boggling is that collections for Fall 2010 are out there now. Yup. Michael Kors (the judge on Project Runway lol) always has really nice designs but unfortunately I forget that (I have my favorites, I'm sorry). Thanks to OutsaPop, I was reminded of that. Here are a few of my favorite finds from his fall2010.

To me, the collection is a really cool mix of old and new. It's got a little Kate Hepburn, a little Veronica Lake, a little Marilyn all mixed in it, BUT it is NOT a classic throwback collection. It's all very nOw, very fresh. They're not in-your-face remakes or ready-to-wear costume style clothes. The inspiration can be seen, but is not thrown in your face. Like I said, it's really fresh, it's really "now." Love the wearable colors too.
It's day time, night time, work, and casual.

I love this 40s inspired sweater shirt. Looks so warm, and today's freezing, so all I can think about is warmth haha.

There are a lot of variations on this particular dress/sillhouette. There's one with lots of zippers, kind of bondagey and fitted, without the little waist flounce. Others are plain with a leather waist flounce (kind of reminiscent of what Prada's done in the past, incorporating leather)

Forgot to Mention...

The line is coming out in (I believe) January. It's obviously going to be a wearable line, for different ages. It has sort of a modern/vintage feel. Kind of a mix and match of old and new. I haven't seen the whole collection, but I know there are some really cool fabrics and colors. It's inspired in part by old movies, Bonnie and Clyde, Rosemary's Baby (haha), a little 30s, a little 70s, just vintagey lol. Check out the video on Tavi's blog.

Excited :D

I love love love Rodarte.

For those who don't know, Rodarte's headed by a team of two sisters who design it all. Their approach to
design is unique. They're kind of weird, out of the box perception to design is both their downfall and their saving grace.
Like it or leave it is pretty much how it is for viewers. I personally love it because it's so weird. From an artist's point of view, I see what they do as art, not just something to wear. I love that they create and mix and match all these weird fabrics and patterns. They take their inspiration from various sources and then make them manifest in ways that you would never expect. I love the rich colors (the reds are my favorite) and the hand dying they do with their fabrics. I can't really think right now so my summary kind of sucks.

My whole point? Aside from Rodarte, I love Target haha. And guess who's coming to Target as the next guest designers for the "International GO" collection they put out every year? Take that MaxAzria for Wal*Mart-slash-Miley-Cyrus!!!
